At his now once-weekly COVID press conference on Monday, Governor Phil Murphy and State Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli announced that you can now access your COVID vaccination records through the secure and free smartphone app Docket.
The Docket app is available through both the Apple and Google Play app stores.
“To be absolutely clear, this is not a passport. Docket is intended to solely give residents easy access to their COVID vaccination record, especially if their vaccination card has been damaged or lost” stated Gov. Murphy.
Information available through Docket is currently limited to your COVID vaccination record. However, it will soon be broadened to provide you with your entire record from the New Jersey Immunization Information System.
Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli noted, “the previous process [for replacing a lost vaccination record card], as some of you know, involved submitting a request form and supportive documentation to NJIIS and the staff mailing out the record, which can take several days. Docket will improve the ease and turnaround time for those who want a copy of their COVID-19 immunization history.”
Senator Michael Testa warned New Jerseyans to remain vigilant to ensure that the new app isn’t converted into a vaccine passport that can be used to prevent unvaccinated individuals from traveling, accessing public places or events, attending school, or even working.
“Governor Murphy hasn’t been transparent with New Jerseyans during the pandemic and he’s refused to rule out the use of vaccine passports,” said Testa (R-1). “We need to be vigilant to ensure this app doesn’t suddenly morph into a vaccine passport that people are forced to display everywhere they go.”
“While Governor Murphy insists the app is not a vaccine passport, it could likely be used for that purpose should he change his mind,” added Testa. “New Jersey is doing just fine without it.”
Testa sponsors legislation (S-3674) that would prohibit the State from requiring private businesses to confirm a person’s COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition for entry.
