As part of Lakewood Township’s major road improvements project in the Seminole / Pawnee area, the township has completed installation of sidewalks along both sides of Iroquois Place and Mohawk Place, and has begun installation of sidewalks along Genesse Place and some portions of Pawnee Road.
Sidewalk and drainage work will continue throughout this entire neighborhood, and once complete, all the roads will get completely repaved. The project is expected to continue through the summer.
A number of property owners have declined to provide easements to allow the township to install sidewalks along their property frontage, so sidewalks will not be installed along those properties.
On May 6, Lakewood’s Township Committee formally awarded the repaving contract to Meco, Inc., of Clarksburg, New Jersey.
Meco’s base bid for the road repaving was for $1,136,822.50, and the sidewalks and crosswalks for the bids for the two sides of the road were for $739,389.50 and $595,750.00, respectively. This comes to a total of $2,471,962.00.
This was lowest bid out of the 8 bids that the township received.
In September 2020, the Township drew a $20 million bond which will be repaid over 20 years. This road improvements project will be funded through the bond funds.
