The New Jersey Department of Health has been tracking so-called “breakthrough” cases – which is when individuals test positive for the coronavirus even after they are fully vaccinated, (14 days past the date of their final vaccine dose).
As of June 28, the most recent date with data released, there were 4,432,769 fully vaccinated individuals in New Jersey, and of these, there were:
➡️3,474 COVID+ cases among the fully vaccinated (99.92% effective)
➡️84 COVID-related hospitalizations among the fully vaccinated (99.998% effective)
➡️31 COVID-related deaths among the fully vaccinated (99.9993% effective)
According to this data, released today by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, the COVID vaccines are over 99% effective.
“These numbers speak for themselves,” stated Governor Murphy. “We only have a pandemic among the unvaccinated. Everyone ages 12 and up who is eligible should go and get vaccinated.”
As of this morning, 10,248,414 doses have been administered in New Jersey as of this morning. 5,175,076 individuals who live, work, or study in New Jersey are now fully vaccinated
