The new traffic signal at Hope Chapel Road / 14th Street is scheduled to be activated tomorrow, Wednesday, spokespeople for Ocean County and JCP&L have confirmed to LNN.
This project included installation of a new northbound right turning lane which required relocation of several utility poles, as well as replacement of curb and sidewalk.
Sidewalk and curb work first began on this project at the end of August 2020. The curb and sidewalk relocation was mostly complete by October. The first utility lines began to get moved in December. The contractors returned to install the traffic signal at the end of March 2021. The new northbound right turning lane was paved in June 2021.
The Ocean County Board of Commissioners awarded this contract on June 17, 2020 to J.C. Contracting of Jackson Township for $548,743.00.
The traffic signal activation was previously scheduled for earlier this month. It was delayed until now due to storm repairs.
