Lakewood Township this past week gave a much needed facelift to portions of 8th Street, 15th Street, and Arbutus Drive.
8th Street between Monmouth Avenue and Madison Avenue, the one single block of 15th Street between Madison Avenue and Forest Avenue, and the two blocks of Arbutus Drive between Oak Knoll Road and Case Road, were repaved. The original, but faded, restriping was replaced.
This work was done under a road maintenance contract the Township Committee awarded to S &G Paving Inc on March 18 for $1,229,220.60.
The township is also getting ready to begin a new road repaving project. That project includes Lincoln Street between MLK Drive and Arlington Avenue, the entire Astor Drive and Coleman Street, East 5th Street between Negba Street and Manetta Avenue, Private Way between North Lake / 2nd Street and 4th Street and between 7th Street and 9th Street, 7th Street between Monmouth Avenue and Princeton Avenue, 9th Street between Clifton Avenue and Lexington Avenue, Carey Street between Squankum Road and Lexington Avenue and between Route 9 and the terminus past Forest Avenue, the entire Carol Street, as well as Williams Street between Prospect Street and Summit Court.
Engineering officials told LNN this work is expected to get underway this month.
