Largest Jewish owned store in Toms River opens to the public

Aug 16, 2021 2218 0 3

Two minutes down the road from the beautiful Toms River Veterans Recreation Complex, across from the Ocean County Mall on Hooper Avenue, the grand opening of the superstore Steals and Deals took place yesterday. With years of experience in the wholesale and online market, Steals and Deals is now expanding into the retail market as well. The location, formerly a Bed Bath and Beyond that closed its doors last January, is housed in a recently acquired 35,000 square foot building in the Bey Lea Plaza.

With a Rita’s stand set up handing out free ices to all the passersby, a large crowd gathered at the entrance for the mega Grand Opening. Despite the hectic crowd and busy store, owner Nechemia Figa was kind enough to spend time with LNN.

When asked how the experience has been so far, Nechemia was visibly excited. “Amazing, exciting, and overwhelming. We had over one hundred people here at the 9:00 am opening and more keep coming, we were not expecting such a big turnout right from the start but so far, we’re handling it well and the feedback has been great”.

The store, originally located on Route 9 in Howell, moved to the new location to accommodate the many various products it sells. From home essentials to toys and decorations and even pet needs, Steals and Deals has a large variety of merchandise to offer. “Health and beauty cosmetics are actually our specialty”, Nechemia said as he motioned to a section of the store not yet opened to the public. “We’re in the midst of unpacking and setting up a huge section of health and beauty products and brand name cosmetics”.

With the move into Toms River, Steals and Deals has become the largest Jewish-owned store in the township. “Baruch Hashem the transition to Toms River went pretty smoothly. We built a good relationship with the township throughout the process, even lending the building to the Toms River Police Department for their K-9 training. Overall, they’ve been supportive in our endeavor and we look forward to continuing to build the relationship with the township and the community”.

Plans for the future? “We plan on expanding our store footprint throughout the state and beyond to make Steals and Deals into a household name”.

On behalf of the entire Lakewood, Jackson, and Toms River communities, we wish Nechemia and the entire Steals and Deals team much mazal and hatzlacha!
