As part of a two day Summer day camp, the boys of Achim B’yachad were treated to a very special day at the Goldstein backyard in Toms River.
Achim B’Yachad, is the Chasidishe Divison of Chai Lifeline, and has one mission, and that is to bring joy and hope to children, families and communities impacted by serious illness.
The day in Toms River started with activities regarding Shabbos. First the boys were shown how to plant wheat for Challah and the whole process until it becomes flour. The boys made Challah Deklech, and challah boards as well. It was a hot day so the boys enjoyed swimming and got to make ice cream with an ice cream maker.
Then came a big surprise. Suddenly a full delegation from the Ocean County Sheriff’s office showed up including the Ocean County Sheriff himself, Mike Mastronardy. Special unit vehicles, as well as trained horses were there to give the kids a grand time. The children got to tour the vehicles and see first hand and got to speak with the Sheriff’s and hear all about their vital work to keep Ocean County safe.
Then came a big BBQ, the highlight of the day which you’ve probably seen videos and photos of, the mega grand concert featuring Jewish Music Superstars including Arele Samet, MBD, Uri Davidi, Yeedle and Yossi Green on a Grand Piano.
The energy was massive thanks to the amazing counselors and volunteers. Chesed is infused in the blood of the volunteers, who so selflessly give of themselves to help those in need. The true meaning of giving is giving without the expectation of receiving anything in return.
These are people that truly exemplify Chesed with every action that they do. There is no “I” in the word team, because every person has what to bring to the table. Each of these members endlessly, selflessly, and unconditionally give of themselves and continue to give to be able to provide the best for these children, despite their unfortunate circumstances.
The organization released the following statement acknowledging those involved in this special day:
Firstly, Thank You Hashem for giving us the opportunity to provide for these beautiful, precious and holy neshamos. Without you Hashem, we know nothing is possible. Please Hashem, grant these children the strength to endure whatever challenge they are coping with, and may they be cured completely. Thank you Hashem for everything!
Hershey Katz, Director of Achim B’Yachad – Chai Lifeline, is the one who started it all. Wow, what a zechus. The power of 1 individual. He is a Baal Chesed and does anything to go the extra mile. He is the sole reason behind the smiles of these children. He helps unpack the burden that many families may feel when dealing with sickness.
And of course our deepest appreciation for the one behind the entire organization worldwide, Rabbi Simcha Scholar, CEO of Chai Lifeline. Thank you for the path you created and for showing us the way Chesed is meant to be done. May Hashem bless your life with health, mazel and shefa bracha!
A heartfelt gratitude to Mayer and Chaya Rivka Fischl who so finely represent the core definition of Chesed. They are a power couple that inspire others to aspire to their greatness. They always put others before themselves, and do so with such Simchas Hachayim. You will NEVER see the Fischl Family without a smile on their faces. They are genuine, and give whenever they possibly can. May Hashem bless them with only good, and may they always be on the giving end.
Another special shoutout to another giving and wonderful couple. Yossi and Miriam Itzkowitz, as you may know they are the proud owners of Toys4U. However, these toys have a greater and deeper meaning. Toys provide a sense of relief for children, and take them away from the pressure or stress from their everyday life. For those that are in need, they are there at any hour to provide toys for these children that are unfortunately waiting for their next treatment. May they be blessed with only good, and May Hashem give you back all that you give to others. Thank you for all that you do.
And of course let’s recognize Zevy Fried. A man who is behind the scenes but is truly one of the main stars. He is a humble man but the Chesed that he does makes his presence be known to all. All those that know him are fortunate to be around him. His Simchas Hachayim is widespread and infectious to all. He is always there whenever in need, and no event would function without him there. He may be behind the scenes, but we know you are behind it all. Thank you for all that you do.
And a thank you to all the talented singers who came all the way out, and spread their simcha to all the children. It was truly the highlight for all of these children. You sure gave everyone a grand time, a night that they will forever cherish. The smiles were priceless and will always be remembered.
Special thanks to Yoel Kohn for always being there for us throughout the year whenever needed and for helping out with arranging the program so the kids will have the best time ever. May you always be on the giving end.
Acharon Acharon Chaviv is Ari and Rivky Goldstein. Time after time, their home is a place that embodies true Chesed. Whoever comes to the Goldstein’s instantly feels at home because of how warm, caring, and compassionate Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein are. They’ll do anything and go above and beyond to make a guest feel like family. Just like Avraham Avinu never failed to open his door to all those in need, the Goldstein’s follow that same tradition and it’s in their blood.
Thank you to all those that made the event possible and to all Achim B’Yachad and Chai Lifeline volunteers and supporters. You’re all making the world a better place. Thank you.
May all these beautiful neshama’lech be cured of any illness R”L that they are currently coping with, and may their families be cured completely.
