After some delays due to utility connections for new construction, Lakewood Township is finally set to begin working on 2 major road paving projects on local roads all around town.
Over the next week, contractors working for Lakewood Township are set to mill and pave the following roads:
Monday, 8/30: Mill Roselle Court and Lincoln Street (between MLK Drive and Arlington Avenue)
Tuesday, 8/31: Pave Roselle Court and Lincoln Street (between MLK Drive and Arlington Avenue), mill Carol Street
Wednesday, 9/1: Pave Carol Street, mill Williams Street (between Prospect Street and Summit Court)
Thursday, 9/2: Pave Williams Street (between Prospect Street and Summit Court), mill Glen Avenue (New Central Avenue to Central Avenue)
Friday, 9/3: Mill and pave Glen Avenue (New Central Avenue to Central Avenue)
These projects also include repaving the entire Astor Drive and Coleman Street, East 5th Street between Negba Street and Manetta Avenue, Private Way between North Lake / 2nd Street and 4th Street and between 7th Street and 9th Street, 7th Street between Monmouth Avenue and Princeton Avenue, 9th Street between Clifton Avenue and Lexington Avenue, Carey Street between Squankum Road and Lexington Avenue and between Route 9 and the terminus past Forest Avenue, Carasaljo Drive, Linden Avenue, Woodland Drive, and Gudz Road between New Central Avenue and Miller Road.
Township officials are coordinating with their contractors to do substantial portions of the paving work over the upcoming Yom Tovim to minimize traffic impact.
Aside from road repaving, the contracts also include new striping and crosswalks, and some drainage, ADA curbs and sidewalk completion work.
In June and August, the township committee awarded this work under 2 separate contracts, to Earle Asphalt Company of Wall, NJ for a total of $2,266,826.26.
