The New Jersey Department of Health continues to track so-called “breakthrough” cases – which is when individuals test positive for the coronavirus even after they are fully vaccinated, (14 days past the date of their final vaccine dose).
The data shows that COVID vaccines continue to remain 99+% effective, state officials announced yesterday.
As of August 15, the most recent date with data released, there were 5,175,016 fully vaccinated individuals in New Jersey, and of these, there were:
➡️12,242 COVID+ cases (0.24%)
➡️307 COVID-related hospitalizations (0.006%)
➡️68 COVID-related deaths (0.001%)
From August 9th– August 15th, fully vaccinated individuals accounted for:
➡️1,637 positive tests (Statewide Total: 13,118)
➡️31 COVID-related hospitalizations (Statewide Total: 807)
➡️0 COVID-related deaths (Statewide Total: 36)
As of yesterday, there were 1,036 patients in NJ hospitals (976 confirmed COVID-positive, 60 persons under investigation), of which 216 patients are in our ICUs. There are 107 ventilators in use.
11,084,973 doses have been administered in New Jersey as of this morning. 5,573,402 individuals who live, work, or study in New Jersey are now fully vaccinated.
The state anticipates administering the first booster shots in three weeks. This will involve reopening the 6 megasites around the state, which were previously closed.”If you are still on the fence about getting vaccinated, NOW is the time to do so,” urged Governor Murphy.
