Lakewood’s Township Committee today awarded a new road improvements contract which includes road repaving, ADA-compliant curb and sidewalk replacement, as well as new stop bars and some crosswalks, for the following roads:
Oak Knoll Road, Tanglewood Lane, Kimberly Drive, Mulberry Lane, and Walden Avenue.
The contract also includes a new crosswalk and stop bar across Oak Knoll Road at North Lake Drive, as well as across Oak Knoll Road near Iris Road. To further improve safe crossing for pedestrians, that crosswalk will also get a new “pedestrian crosswalk” warning sign.
Finally, the contract also includes new concrete driveways and concrete driveway aprons along Mulberry Lane.
The Township Committee awarded the contract to Meco, Inc. of Clarksburg, NJ for $340,726.75. This was the lowest responsive and responsible bid of the 8 bids received.
This project will be funded in whole by a $491,645 grant the township received from NJDOT for the FY 2020 Municipal Aid program. Since Lakewood is an urban aid community, the DOT grant also pays for design/permitting (up to 10%, excluding permit application fees) and inspection (up to 15%) in addition to the construction.
