So what’s open and closed?
All municipal, county, state, and federal government agencies and offices, including courts and libraries, are closed. In Lakewood there is no trash pick up. Everyone’s pickup schedule moves ahead one day this week.
The United States Postal Service offices will be closed and there will be no regular mail delivery. FedEx and UPS will also not be delivering, except for UPS Express Critical, FedEx Office and FedEx Custom Critical.
Most in-person and drive-thru bank services will be closed, including TD Bank.
The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq trading and bond markets are closed.
A majority of retail stores, including Walmart and BJ’s will be open. Costco however, will be closed.
Commuters are urged to check schedules with their carrier. NJ Transit will be running on a holiday schedule. PATH will be operating on a Saturday schedule, while SEPTA will be operating on its usual Sunday schedule.
The next federal holiday is Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 11.
