As reported on LNN, two vehicles were stolen early Monday morning from the Royal Grove development in Jackson.
Jackson Police led the vehicles on a high-speed pursuit but the vehicle’s got away after the pursuit was terminated in Freehold due to “safety concerns”, the Police department said.
Lakewood Shomrim worked around the clock to track down the vehicles along with authorities of many different municipalities.
The vehicles, a 2018 Acura MDX as well as a 2020 Acura MDX, were tracked down in Newark, a source told LNN.
Both vehicles were unlocked with the keys inside when they were stolen.
Sources tell LNN that a gang based out of Newark specifically targeting high-end vehicles is behind the recent surge of vehicle thefts in our area.
LNN received surveillance video showing the thieves going around the development looking for unlocked vehicles.
It is important to know how easily it is to spot a vehicle that is unlocked especially when it comes to high-end vehicles. When a vehicle is locked, the mirrors will be folded as well. If the thieves spot a vehicle with open mirrors, it becomes an easy target.
Remember never to leave your vehicle unlocked and never to leave valuables or keys in your car.
