The New Jersey Department of Health is issuing a directive today requiring all schools to report data to them on a weekly basis, Governor Phil Murphy announced today.
“This reporting will give us a more complete picture of the cases and vaccination rates among students and staff,” explained the governor.
The governor also noted that his executive order requiring all school staff to be either fully vaccinated by October 18th or face regular testing includes ALL bus drivers, saying “we’re doing all we can to ensure that school day is as safe as possible – and that commitment begins at the school bus stop.”
According to New Jersey days as of the today, 62 school districts are reporting cases of in-school transmission. The total number of outbreaks reported is 69. This includes 319 student cases and 60 staff cases.
There are currently 1,034 patients in our hospitals (977 confirmed COVID-positive, 57 persons under investigation). Of these 242 patients are in our ICUs, with 130 ventilators in use.
11,822,788 total doses have been administered in New Jersey as of this morning. 5,894,643 individuals who live, work, or study in New Jersey are now fully vaccinated.
