Williams Street is now closed in both directions between Prospect Street and Summit Court, for paving work which is part of Lakewood Township’s Major Road Improvements.
Williams Street is currently being repaved between Prospect Street and the Summit Court terminus. This work is expected to continue through at least Wednesday.
As previously reported on LNN, this work is part of a larger major road improvements project which is being undertaken by Lakewood Township and has been underway since before Rosh Hashanah.
Over the past few weeks, with substantial portions of the paving work done over the Yom Tovim to minimize traffic impact, the township has repaved Roselle Court, Carol Street, Private Way between North Lake / 2nd Street and 4th Street and between 7th Street and 9th Street, 7th Street between Monmouth Avenue and Princeton Avenue, 9th Street between Clifton Avenue and Lexington Avenue, Carasaljo Drive, Woodland Drive, Linden Avenue, and Carey Street.
Once work along Carey Street is complete, the contractors will also repave Lincoln Street between MLK Drive and Arlington Avenue, Williams Street between Prospect Street and Summit Court, Glen Avenue between New Central Avenue and Central Avenue, Gudz Road between New Central Avenue and Miller Road, the entire Astor Drive and Coleman Street, and East 5th Street between Negba Street and Manetta Avenue.
Aside from road repaving, the contracts also include new striping and crosswalks, and some drainage, ADA curbs and sidewalk completion work.
In June and August, Lakewood’s Township Committee awarded this work under 2 separate contracts to Earle Asphalt Company of Wall, NJ for a total of $2,266,826.26.
