A fire broke out shortly before 11:00pm Wednesday night at a home on Donna Dee Court in Toms River.
The Pleasant Plains Fire Department was alerted to the call by the home’s fire alarm monitoring service. Upon response of the first emergency units on scene, heavy smoke and fire was visible and a general alarm was toned out, with an additional request for mutual aid.
Pleasant Plains First Aid Squad and CJ Hatzolah responded to the scene. B’chasdei Hashem, all residents were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. One firefighter was checked by EMS for minor injuries but he was later released, John Hafner, Lieutenant of the Pleasant Plains Fire Department and tonight’s Incident Command told LNN.
Portions of the home sustained extensive damage. The homeowner told LNN that he did not know how the fire started.
The fire is knocked out and under investigation by the Toms River Fire Prevention Bureau and the Toms River Police Department.
