Ocean County Sheriff Mike Mastronardy announces re-election bid

Jan 12, 2022 333 0 0

Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy today announced that he intends to seek re-election to the Office of Ocean County Sheriff.

Sheriff Mastronardy started his distinguished public safety career with the Berkeley Township Police Department, before joining the Toms River Police Department in 1974. He went on to spend 40 years with the Toms River Police Department, 22 as Chief of Police.

“It has been a true honor to serve the people of Ocean County as Sheriff,” said Mastronardy, who became
Sheriff in 2013. “I look forward to continuing the good work of this dedicated department and working with the Ocean County Board of Commissioners to institutionalize long term public safety plans for Ocean County.”

Under Sheriff Mastronardy, the Sheriff’s office has made dramatic transformations in technology, training, and increased presence within the county. Partnering with local police chiefs, the Sheriff’s Office has
assisted in making available warrants, drones, K-9 units, CSI, traffic, marine, and other resources to ensure that Ocean County residents are afforded the best public safety available.

Working with the County Health Department, the Sheriff’s office has also played an integral part in the County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sheriff Mastronardy is past President of the Ocean County Chiefs, New Jersey Chiefs of Police, and the New Jersey Sheriffs Association. He is currently on the National Board of Directors for the Public Safety
Cadets and the National Sheriffs Association.

Sheriff Mastronardy will be seeking re-election with running mates Commissioners Virginia Haines and Jack Kelly.
