Today, January 14, marks 11 years since Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz, was horrifically shot and killed while on patrol duty.
Officer Matlosz, at the time, was 27 years old and engaged to be married. He was driving in his police cruiser Friday afternoon when he stopped to talk with a pedestrian. After a brief exchange, the assailant stepped back, pulled out a handgun and opened fire.
Matlosz was shot 3 times at close range, still sitting behind the wheel in the driver’s seat with his gun in his holster. Matlosz had been an officer in Lakewood for almost 5 years.
After 9 years of losing Chris, it does not get any less heartbreaking. He will forever be remembered.💙 #317 #RIP
