Damage of Arson Fire that closed the Garden State Parkway may cost Millions to repair
Repairs for the fire that closed the Garden State Parkway near exit 91 last week is projected to cost “in the millions”, said a Turnpike Authority spokesman. The fire, which is believed to have been an act of arson, is still being investigated and the damage is still being assessed but it is clear that a significant amount of damage has been done to the culvert that runs under the Parkway.
At this time, it is unclear if the repairs will be impacting traffic.
New Jersey State Police are seeking the public’s help to identify the suspects responsible for the fire. State Police said that the suspects were seen running into the Evergreen Woods Park Apartment Complex that runs parallel to the Garden State Parkway after the fire was set.
