WEATHER ALERT: Wind Advisory issued for the area beginning at noon today

UPDATE: NWS: Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Ocean County including Lakewood until 11:00 p.m. tonight.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, has issued a wind advisory for parts of New Jersey including Ocean County beginning today at 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs could be blown down resulting in possible power outages.

A line of showers with a few embedded thunderstorms is also expected to move across the area late this afternoon into this evening with wind gusts up to 60 mph.

The Weather Service encourages residents to use extra caution when driving especially if operating a high profile vehicle and to secure all outdoor objects.
