This past Sunday March 6, 2022 hundreds of people gathered in the Sheraton hotel in Eatontown, New Jersey to celebrate the Vorka International Siyum on Seder Moed learned under the Tziurei Hadaf, Vorka Daf HaYomi program.
The participants were greeted into the main lobby of the hotel where they were served hot drinks and delicacies. Severel Minyanim Mincha were held at 3:30 followed by an hour of learning the final pages of Meseches Chagiga to complete Seder Moed together.
After the learning program, a Shiur introduction to Meseches Yevamos was given by Rabbi Fishel Oster, a Maagid Shiur of Crown Heights.
At 4:45 the grand doors of the ballroom opened welcoming everyone to celebrate the completion of two years of learning Seder Moed.
An upscale five course elegant meal was prepared and served by Tessler’s Catering of Lakewood, enhanced with music by a grand orchestra by the famous Shimmy Levy Productions accompanied with vocals by the talented Azamrah Choir and singer Yaakov Shlomo Gross, in honor of the Torah and it’s learners.
At the start of the event, Harav Avroham Englander Shlita, Vorka Rov of Boro Park led a Tehillim prayer for Acheinu Bnei Yisroel in Ukraine going through horrific scrutiny of war.
Rabbi Chaim Shapiro, Rosh Yeshiva of Morristown addressed the crowd immediately after speaking about the challenges of the Yetzer Hora and that the only way to combat him is with Torah.
While the appetizer was being enjoyed, famed singer and badchen Motty Illowitz, inspired the crowd with a string of songs and rhymes in memory of R’ Fishel Neiman Z”L, from Monsey, NY, the father of R’ Sruli Neiman who is a Daf HaYomi magid shiur in Vorka and who the event was sponsored in memory of, marking one year since his passing.
The youngest son of R’ Fishel Z”L, a 7 year old boy, joined Motty Illowitz in singing a special tribute song in memory to his father Z”L.
As the event continued on, the Vorka Rebbe Shlita took the stand to address the hundreds who attended to honor the Torah, saying that that the souls of the holy Tanaim and Amoraim are here with us celebrating.
Finally, the Siyum was ready to be made and by R’ Sruli Neiman took the stand to make the Siyum. At the conclusion of the Siyum the crowd broke out in dancing celebrating the Kavod HaTorah.
The Liminov Ruv of Williamsburg, the guest speaker of the event, addressed the crowd saying the importance of learning together with a Chaburah and that’s what Vorka was created from and stands for.
A lavish main dish was served for all participants until the final program was being prepared to finish the event which was a special panel with five participants and a moderator asking questions about the daily experience and challenges of Daf HaYomi and how they combat it.
The people on the panel were R’ Avraham Pinchas Berkowitz, R’ Shmiel Weisner, R’ Schneur Ringel, R’ Yossi Baumwolspiner and R’ Shloimy Katz. It was moderated by Rabbi Munish Jacobs, Menahel of Bais Hachinuch in Lakewood.
The event concluded with the hundreds of participants feeling inspired and ready to begin Meseches Yevamos with good spirits.
A Sefer of Chizuk to inspire and motivate all of those learning Daf HaYomi was given out by the event sponsored by R’ Suchi Weinberger, Rosh Hakuhel of Vorka Boro Park, as well as everyone went home with a brand new Yavamos Gemarah sponsored by R’ Avraham Pinchas Berkowitz.
