The Treasury Department expects to close the current fiscal year at the end of June with $51.4 billion, for example, but projects that the state will collect $50.6 billion in the 2023 fiscal year. The current budget is $46.4 billion, and the one Murphy proposed for 2023 is $50 billion.
Yet amidst standing in the NJ Senate Chambers, State Senator (R-13) Declan O’Scanlon tweeted “Itโs insane that Democrats will vote for a $50 billion budget today that literally nobody has seen. It’s a shocking lack of transparency that’s meant to deny the public, & concerned legislators, from understanding where the money is goingโฆuntil itโs too late to have any input”.
State Senator Edward Durr (R-3) commented, “This is why NJ needs to come out and support their Republican candidates so we can gain the majority and stop things like this from happening”.
