On Saturday, June 25, 2022, the President signed into law:
The “Keep Kids Fed Act of 2022,” which extends certain flexibilities for child nutrition programs and provides temporary increases in reimbursement rates for school meals and meals provided at child care centers. The question is how will the passage apply to Lakewood residents and Klal Yisrael at large?
Rabbi Avi Schnall (Director of the New Jersey Office of Agudas Yisrael) told LNN that being the Act is a Federal Program the next step is it will go down to the states, then each state could add on their own regulations.
So, yes, on the federal level, they are continuing the program through the summer for community-based lunches. The question is, how will the states translate that into on-the-ground practicality? That has yet to be determined.
