They say imitation is the epitome of admiration. If that is true, then it looks like the Reina Mayoral campaign has a strong secret admirer in the opposing campaign. On October 2nd Flemming Kern O’Neil posted about the importance of improving Johnson Park. Johnson park is the site of many Jackson communal events including parades, fireworks, and other community gatherings.
Although the ideas were presented there with no mention of his name, it appears these ideas originated in 2021 long before election season with Mayor Michael Reina. At the time, Reina commissioned Colliers Engineering and Design to develop a plan to expand and improve Jackson Township’s parks. More specifically, he requested they create plans to build an amphitheater, pickle ball courts, and make other improvements at Johnson Park.
See the video above where, in February 2022, Colliers presented that plan to the Jackson Township Council and since that time Colliers has been working with the Department of Environmental Protection and other agencies to insure that the plan can move forward. These actions are also being undertaken at the direction of Mayor Reina.
Once approval has been secured, Mayor Reina intends to include these upgrades and improvements to Johnson Park in his 2023 budget and will be doing so with the support of the entire Moving Jackson Forward team. Let’s hope that the remaining Council members will continue to support improving Jackson Township’s recreation facilities long after the election is over.
