This evening, Jackson Twp. honored JPD Officers Zachary Rodina and William Kozna, along with Tyler Kamowski, who saved the life of Robert Kamowski, Tyler's father, last year.

On May 7th, 2022, officers Rodina and Kozna responded to an emergency call for an unresponsive male who was not breathing. When they arrived, they saw Tyler Kamowski performing CPR on his father, Robert who lay unconscious. Officer Rodina quickly took command of the situation and told Tyler to continue CPR while he prepared and then administered the defibrillator. Rodina resumed CPR after using the defibrillator while Officer Pozna delivered oxygen. Ultimately Robert regained consciousness.

Councilwoman Jennifer Kuhn read an official proclamation from the township extolling Tyler's ability to "remain calm and spring into action when timing was crucial." His actions played a huge role in keeping his father alive by keeping the blood in the body flowing to his organs.

Robert thankfully survived but also suffered subsequent attacks and was not able to be there this evening. His daughter too delivered moving words of appreciation for her brother and the police encouraging others as to the importance of becoming certified in CPR.
